ARCHITECTURAL CLIFF

Architectural Cliff, Storefront for Art and Architecture, New York, New York, 2014

Team: Andrew Kovacs, Chris Gassaway

Project Description:

Architectural Cliff is a vertical conglomerate that was installed and exhibited at Storefront for Art and Architecture in New York. Architectural Cliff exploits part to part relationships, formal contiguities, the everyday and the architectural. Oscillating between a collection and a hoard, architectural cliff is composed of various objects with architectural qualities collected and acquired around New York City. The precise collision and compaction between these architectural objects forms a 3-dimensional spatial coalition. Each part of Architectural Cliff is documented and cataloged for its architectural qualities before becoming part of the larger whole. Over the span of a week architectural cliff grew into a grotesque vertical beast until it filled the narrowest space at Storefront and was taken out of the gallery into the street.
